And he gave some to be apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, unto the work of ministering, unto the building up of the body of Christ:

— Ephesians 4:11-12

Pastor, Teacher and Author Dr. Michael G. Barnes

My name is Michael G. Barnes and I am a Theologically Firm Preacher, Teacher, and Speaker of the Gospel. I am a three-time graduate of Andersonville Theological Seminary in Camilla, GA, where I earned a BA of Ministry, MA of Pastoral Counseling and Doctorate of Theology. I have also earned three certificates from Seminary Extension in Nashville, TN. I am often described as a pastor you can easily relate to with my down-to-earth personality.

I am a life-long native of Madison County, KY, being born and raised in Richmond KY. I attended local schools and graduated from Madison Central High School. It was there in high school that I met my soul mate Michelle (Bruner) Barnes and we were united in marriage on August 16,1985 in Richmond, KY. The result of this marriage led to two daughters being born (Tara 1988 and Kayla 1991) which between the two gave us four grandchildren of whom we love deeply, and they are all a special gift from God and have blessed us in many, many ways, Parker, Hailey, Emersyn and Kayin.

I was raised in a church setting with my grandfather (Oscar Neal) and father ( Glen Edward Barnes) both being deacons and my father also a song leader. My first trip to church was when my mother (Elizabeth “Neal” Barnes) carried me in a carrier and sat me in a pew at 6 – weeks old. I was “Spiritually Born” on 12/16/1990, when I received Jesus Christ as my personal Savior at the age of 25 years old. Later in life I felt the Lord calling me to preach the gospel and it took me three years to surrender to that call on 10/8/2000. I was privileged to have seen my wife, two daughters and a grandchild come to know Jesus as their personal Savior.

I was later led to attend seminary to further my Christian knowledge to help others hopefully come to know my Savior as I did.

I have obtained 3 - Certificates from Seminary Extension in Nashville TN. Understanding The Bible / The Life of Christ and Pastoral Ministries.

After obtaining these Certificates I was excited to continue my Christian education, so I sought out opportunities that would best benefit my knowledge of the Lord to help others and myself in serving my calling from God. Upon this the Lord opened up to a place in Camilla, Georgia named Andersonville Theological Seminary which allowed me to continue my work to support my family and continue my education. From this Seminary I worked and received 3-Diplomas.

  • Bachelor of Ministry.

  • Master of Pastoral Counseling.

  • Doctorate of Theology.

I have the greatest joy in serving the Lord with all my heart and soul and seeing people come to know Him personally. I enjoy people and serving them with the attitude and compassion of Jesus to the best I can humanly accomplish.

I have the privilege to serve God and our Savior Jesus Christ today at Union City Baptist Church in my hometown Richmond, KY. I’m here for You and if I can be of any Spiritual guidance to you or your family, please reach out to me.

I have 3 - books (see below) that God allowed me to write and publish on Amazon.

  • The Eden Effect.

  • The Bible and Homosexuality.

  • The Kingdom of God

My favorite scripture to live by daily is “Proverbs 3:5-6” which states “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
