What must I do to be saved?

“And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved…” Acts 16:31

Admit

Admit to God that you are a sinner who needs a Savior. Admit to God that you deserve Judgment.

Romans 3:23 - "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;"

Romans 6:23 - "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

BELIEVE

Believe that Jesus died to pay the penalty for your sins on the Cross and that He was raised again the third day to make you Righteous before God.

Romans 4:24-25 - "but for us also, to whom it (righteousness) shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.”

CONFESS

Confess that you are now saved because you have believed on the finished work of Jesus.

Romans 10:9-10 - “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

There are no words or prayers that can make you right with God. Salvation is an issue of the heart. What are you trusting in to make you acceptable with God? If it is the finished work of Jesus than you are saved. You were saved the moment you believed that what Jesus did was enough to make you acceptable with God. Below is a prayer to help you work through the condition of your heart.

God I admit that I am a sinner who needs a Savior. I have sinned and come short of your glory and I’m sorry. Today, I repent and turn away from my sin. Right now I believe that Jesus died for my sins on the Cross. Right now I believe that Jesus was raised again the third day to make me righteous in your sight. I receive your forgiveness and I receive your salvation because of what Jesus did for me. I’m not looking for a feeling. I’m not asking for a sign. I stand on the Word of God. I confess that I am saved. Come into my life Holy Spirit and take control. Thank you for saving me God. Amen.
