"But you
will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my
witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the
earth." Acts 1:8
Our mission is to be
a loving, great commission church. (ref Matthew 28:18-20)
Special News:: Van Fund
Our church has
purchased a new
van. This allows us to
continue our Van Ministry to provide transportation to and from church services
and other church activities for those who need a ride. There
is still a need to pay off the small loan. If you would like
to help, please see the Treasurer. We encourage all of our
members to join in this ministry through their giving.
Union City Baptist Church was established as a
church in 1812. We have a long and dedicated service to the community in which
it serves. Our church is a member of the Tates Creek Baptist Association as well
as the Kentucky Baptist Convention and the Southern Baptist Convention.
Message from our Pastor
In Matthew's account of the life of Jesus in chapter 5 Jesus begins the Sermon on the Mount, where He starts with the "Blessed..." verses. "Blessed are the meek for they will inherit the earth", Jesus says. Have you ever stopped to consider the Blessings that are in your life? If we would stop and really pay attention we would see how blessed we really are. God's blessings can be found each day in our lives, but sometimes we don't pay attention to them and we miss them. Something as simple as getting up in the morning is a blessing that many take for granted. There are those who are not able to get up each morning. To have a job in our day is a blessing, and sometimes we exactly enjoy it. Family is always a blessing. Shall I go on or do you get the point? God truly blesses us each day and we need to thank Him for our blessings. We have a church member who is in the nursing home and When I go to see her many times she will be in the bed singing "Count your Blessings". What a joy she is to me when she is singing. Why don't we count our blessings today? It might just help us. Bro. Rick
Church Covenant
Having been led, as we believe
by the Spirit of God, to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord
and, on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the
Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost, we do now, in the presence of God, and
this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another
as one body in Christ. We engage, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit to
walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of this church,
in knowledge, holiness, and comfort; to promote its prosperity and spirituality;
to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrines; to contribute
cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the
church, and the relief of the poor, and the spread of the gospel through all
nations.
